WE ARE THE AGENCY OF THE YEAR
A Crisis in healthcare has been declared as recent numbers on underrepresented medical students have revealed shockingly low numbers for African American men and numbers for African American Women still well below population percentile goals. Of the 18,000 new medical students this year 3 %, only 604, are African American Men.
Mentoring, when done properly, has consistently been recognized as part of the solution to address the shortfalls. Morehouse College Office of Health Professions Alumni, with the Atlanta Medical Association welcome visiting Doctors ( Physicians , Dentists and Public Health Professionals ) to join us Super Bowl LIII weekend for an uplifting breakfast program featuring leaders that include notables such as Dr. Patrice Harris The President of the American Medical Association, Dr. David Satcher 16th Surgeon General , Dr. Louis Sullivan President Emeritus of Morehouse School of Medicine , Dr. Frank K. Jones President of the Atlanta Medical Association – NMA Affiliate , Dr. Calvin Mackie
Our primary goal is to have Atlanta area health professionals partner with visiting health professionals for a worthy cause that provides a broader impact of the Super Bowl on the region, by having a positive impact on its future healthcare leaders. Beginning with one on one conversations, then short speeches, informative panel discussions, and Q and A sessions the students will become knowledgeable and the Professionals will be reminded of how they overcame and reached their goals. The event is free of charge to all students. While the event is free of charge for all others, donations to support The Morehouse Office of Health Professions Summer Program are encouraged. For over Forty years, The OHP Summer Program has assisted in the preparation of Freshmen studying the Health Sciences.
